Hyderabad: In a move that bolsters Hyderabad’s rapidly growing stature as a pharma global capability centre, Sanofi Healthcare India has expanded its Hyderabad GCC by another 2.7 lakh sq ft to around 5 lakh sq ft.
The expansion is part of the French giant’s commitment to invest Euro 400 million by 2030 in its Hyderabad GCC. The move will take Sanofi’s Hyderabad GCC capacity to 4,500-5,000 employees from the initially projected 2,600, making it one of the top 3 largest pharma GCCs in India. It also makes Sanofi GCC the second largest in Hyderabad after Swiss giant Novartis’s GCC, which houses around 9,000 people and sits next door. Inaugurated in HiTec City in 2024, the Hyderabad GCC supports end-to-end global processes and houses capabilities across artificial intelligence (AI), digital health, and intelligent automation. The Hyderabad GCC first started operations in 2019, with operations focused mainly on medical services, and it grew manifold since then and caters to Sanofi’s global functions and affiliates across the world.
Chief minister Revanth Reddy said the expansion reflects the state’s growing stature as a global hub for innovation-driven life sciences and aligns with its goals of high-skilled employment, stronger digital and scientific innovation, and positioning the state among the leading life sciences ecosystems. IT minister Sridhar Babu, who inaugurated the expanded facility, said the facility underscores Hyderabad’s shift from a manufacturing base to a strategic digital hub for global biopharma. “With deep capabilities in AI, data analytics, medical affairs, and enterprise operations, this represents the next generation of value creation in life sciences,” he said.
