Sanghavi in Japan

Organised as part of the state’s outreach for the 2027 Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, the meeting focused on strengthening strategic partnerships between Gujarat and Japan and identifying fresh investment opportunities. Highlighting Gujarat’s economic profile, Sanghavi said the state accounts for more than 8% of India’s GDP despite having around 5% of the country’s population. Gujarat contributes 18% of India’s industrial output and nearly one-third of its exports, while its ports handle about 40% of the country’s cargo, he said. The Osaka programme also included 11 planned one-to-one meetings between Sanghavi and business leaders to discuss potential investments and new industrial partnerships.
Addressing representatives of Japanese companies and industry associations, Sanghavi said, “Japan is the land of the rising sun, and Gujarat is the land of rising opportunities. He described Gujarat as a destination defined by “speed, scale and stability”, citing policy transparency, decision-making processes and its industrial ecosystem. Sanghavi said Japanese companies already had a significant presence in Gujarat, citing Suzuki, the bullet train project and Japanese industrial parks as examples of bilateral cooperation. He said Japan’s technological capabilities and Gujarat’s talent pool could complement each other, particularly in emerging sectors such as semiconductors, green energy, EVs and electronics.
Sanghavi also invited Japanese business leaders to participate in the upcoming summit and explore industrial collaborations with the state. The outreach is part of Gujarat’s efforts to attract overseas investment ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. Gandhinagar: Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi on Monday pitched Gujarat as an investment destination for Japanese companies, highlighting opportunities in semiconductors, green energy, electric vehicles (EVs) and electronics at a high-level ‘Invest in Gujarat’ roundtable in Osaka, Japan.
