After 17 years of marriage, UP man helps wife tie knot with lover she met on Facebook

Vipin Bhargava’s 17-year marriage ended when his wife Rekha chose to be with Rahul Kumar Upadhyay.

SITAPUR: A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur ended his 17-year marriage after his wife expressed her desire to live with another man she had befriended on Facebook. The husband, Vipin Bhargava, reportedly completed the necessary formalities at the Mishrikh tehsil complex before accompanying his wife and her partner to a Hanuman temple, where the couple exchanged garlands. Vipin was present when his wife, Rekha Bhargava, exchanged garlands with Rahul Kumar Upadhyay, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar district. He later saw the two off as they left for Delhi in a car. Rahul allegedly began visiting Mishrikh to meet Rekha.

Days before the incident, Rekha left her home, prompting Vipin to approach the police and file a missing-person report. The incident took place on Saturday evening in the Mishrikh area.

Vipin and Rekha married on March 12, 2009, and have two sons, aged 16 and 14. Vipin works in the private sector to support his family.

When Rekha returned home on October 14, she told Vipin about her relationship with Rahul and said she wanted to live with him, according to reports. Vipin said he no longer had any ties with Rekha and was content with his two sons. Rekha had developed an interest in making short videos, or reels, and posting them on Instagram and Facebook. During this period, she reportedly came in contact with Rahul through Facebook. The two exchanged phone numbers and began speaking regularly, eventually developing a relationship. Vipin did not oppose her decision. Rahul was subsequently called to Mishrikh, where he too expressed his desire to live with Rekha. He also wished the couple well as they left for Delhi.
