Krishnagiri: A 51-year-old man murdered his wife following a domestic dispute and later died by suicide in Chinna Elasagiri near Hosur in Krishnagiri district in the early hours of Tuesday.
Investigation revealed that Lakshmayya was addicted to alcohol and frequently fought with his wife.
Their son, who was distressed by the quarrel, went to his uncle’s house nearby to spend the night,” said SIPCOT police sub-inspector Jeyaganesh. “On the midnight of the incident, a heated argument reportedly broke out between the couple. Police suspect Lakshmayya, who was under the influence of alcohol, assaulted Vinodha inside the house, resulting in her death. He is then believed to have taken the extreme step. Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Krishnagiri Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem.
The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when neighbours noticed the bodies and alerted the police.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
