Newlywed climbs mobile towers twice in Bengaluru, asks police to trace missing husband

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Bengaluru : A 20-year-old homemaker, newly married, has climbed mobile towers twice since Monday in Madanayakanahalli, near Nelamangala, demanding that police and her family trace her husband, whom she married just 15 days ago.

On Tuesday, Ramya (name changed) lodged a missing person complaint, alleging that her husband, whom she married on Oct 6, had abandoned her on Oct 18. When questioned, Ramya claimed that the wedding had taken place on Oct 6 at a friend’s house in Nagavara.

A journalist from a local media outlet recorded a video and told Ramya that the incident would be aired. She then climbed down,” an investigating officer said. Police also said there were no valid documents to establish the marriage.

Before climbing the towers, Ramya had also sat in the middle of the busy Hosur Road near Parappana Agrahara Sunday night after realising that her husband had deserted her, disrupting traffic. Police took her to a state-run women’s home, but she left Monday morning after her mother visited her. This time, she demanded that police and media come to the spot and resolve her problem. We assured her that we would take appropriate action to trace her husband.

“However, on Tuesday afternoon, she climbed another mobile tower near Makali.

When she found that he was not there and his mobile phone was switched off, she climbed a mobile tower near the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. She came down after family members and friends consoled her. “On Monday afternoon, she went to her husband’s house in Kuvempunagar, Madanayakanahalli.
