The robbery took place on Sept 18, 2025.
Balakrishnan said the group had arranged his visa and flight ticket. KMCC is a cultural and social welfare organisation associated with the Indian Union Muslim League, a key ally in the Congress-led UDF in Keralam. He came to know that the premises belonged to KMCC only after entering the office, he claimed. He also alleged that threats forced him to use a gas cutter to open the strongroom.
Because no complaint was lodged immediately after the burglary, police said that no investigation was conducted into the incident.
BJP north district president Praful Krishnan said the local party brass had no knowledge of the alleged crime or its background. Police said they were also probing whether people associated with KMCC are involved in the burglary. BJP functionaries have demanded a comprehensive probe, including a scrutiny of the KMCC leadership, questioning the delay in filing a complaint. The stolen money reportedly belonged to Snehanidhi, a fund for the welfare of KMCC members in Qatar.
