Southern railway introduces its first-ever Vistadome coach in Madurai – Guruvayur express on a trial basis. passengers and public celebrated the journey ,sharing sweets, both tamilnadu and Kerala states
The coach will operate on a trial basis until January 15 from Madurai, running Thursday to Sunday. Return services from Guruvayur will operate Friday to Monday until January 16. The basic fare is Rs515, while tickets cost Rs1,010 to Punalur, Rs1,140 to Kollam and Rs1,875 for the complete journey to Guruvayur.

Madurai MP Su Venkatesan flagged off the service at Madurai railway station in the presence of divisional railway manager Om Prakash Meena. The air-conditioned coach features expansive glass windows, a transparent roof and rotating seats, allowing passengers to enjoy mountain scenery, forests and valleys without leaving their seats. The route passes through Aryankavu Pass, tunnels and bridges along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. The service has already attracted considerable interest, with reservations reaching the waiting list for several departures soon after bookings opened. Unlike several other trains crossing the ghat section at night, the Madurai-Guruvayur Express traverses the stretch during daylight hours. Reservations are available under the EV category.
