Kolkata: Eight persons, including six women, were arrested on Monday after cops busted a fake call centre in the Rajdanga area.
Cops seized a cache of evidence, including 30 phones and over 50 active SIM cards used to execute the scam calls.
The setup operated on a fake-dating service model, with the fraudsters duping unsuspecting clients out of money through various digital payment gateways under the pretext of registration fees, security deposits, and processing charges, according to cops. Police also recovered several registers containing detailed records of target profiles and transaction histories.
