Kanpur: Governor Anandiben Patel honoured 15 police officers and personnel for outstanding work in various categories at Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University on Friday, praising their dedication, courage and public service.
She said police vigilance kept society safe, prompt action averted crises, and courage sustained public trust. Patel said efforts were being made under the Jan Bhavan initiative to provide free HPV vaccines to girls in various districts. She said police personnel often placed society’s security above personal comfort and family time, remaining on duty during festivals and other important occasions.
At a ceremony held at the Veerangana Lakshmibai Auditorium, Patel urged police personnel to contribute actively to de-addiction, education, cleanliness and other social initiatives alongside their regular duties. The campaign has also been extended to the daughters of police personnel, reflecting social responsibility and gratitude towards officers who maintain public safety and law and order round the clock. Police service was highly challenging and required personnel to work away from their families in adverse circumstances, she added. Governor Patel urged personnel to participate enthusiastically in the de-addiction campaign, saying addiction affected individuals, families and society. The police could raise awareness among schoolchildren, young people and local communities about its harmful effects. She also emphasised public participation and social awareness to protect children and young people from addiction. Those honoured included additional deputy commissioner of police (Headquarters and Mahila Aparadh) Sneha Tiwari, Pankaj Kumar, inspector Abhay Pratap Singh, Alpi Singh, sub-inspector Prabhat Mishra, Vineet Kumar, Mangal Singh, Suman Singh, Pushpendra Kumar, Siddhant Seth and Siddhnath Singh. The awards recognised contributions in areas including solving challenging cases, traffic management, sports and fire services.
