Lucknow: Speed limits on Uttar Pradesh expressways for private motor vehicles will be lowered from 120 kmph to 100 kmph from Nov 15.
Officials said the limits will be aligned with prevailing weather conditions, and further reductions may be imposed when dense fog affects high-speed corridors. UPEIDA currently operates five expressways in the state and is developing four additional link expressways.
Weather monitoring will be done centrally, after which control room staff overseeing expressway operations will relay advisories and updated speed instructions through LED display screens along the routes. Enforcement will be carried out by patrolling personnel deployed on Lucknow-Agra Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Ganga Expressway and Gorakhpur-Link Expressway.
