shooting centre
Lakshya Shooting Club was established in 2006 by Indian Olympian and former national shooting coach Suma Shirur. They include three-time Paralympic medallist Avani Lekhara , who won gold medals at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, and Parth Mane, the 2024 junior world champion and a team silver medallist at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026.
Axis Bank group head Vijay Mulbagal said the partnership sought to provide aspiring and elite athletes with access to infrastructure, coaching and technical support. Shirur, Lakshya’s founder and high-performance director, said the centre would support every aspect of athletes’ performance as they prepared for global competition. Navi Mumbai: Lakshya Shooting Club and Axis Bank inaugurated a high-performance shooting centre at CBD Belapur, the first of its kind in the MMR, to support Indian athletes preparing for international competitions, including the Olympic Games. The para-inclusive centre will provide training, coaching, sports science, nutrition, medicine and athlete-development support under one roof. This was conceptualised by Olympian shooter and Dronacharya awardee Suma Shirur, who dreamt of opening such a facility in the city to tap young talents. Its athletes have competed at national and international events, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and World Championships. The green-certified building was constructed to meet sustainability standards for energy and resource efficiency.
