156 private junior colleges across Telangana listed as non-affiliated

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Hyderabad: As many as 156 private junior colleges in Telangana have not received affiliation for the 2026-27 academic year, according to Telangana Private Junior Colleges Managements Association (TPJMA) president Satish Gowri.

Of these, 27 have been categorised under zero admissions, while the remaining colleges face other affiliation-related issues, including fire-safety compliance, he said. He said more than 95 colleges had been fined lakhs of rupees and demanded the withdrawal of penalties and zero-admission orders.

“Immediately withdraw the unlawful fines and ‘zero-admission’ orders targeted at budget-friendly (small-scale) colleges,” Gowri said in a statement. Gowri alleged that the Board was targeting smaller, affordable colleges while favouring corporate institutions. TPJMA also sought simplification of Fire NOC and affiliation requirements and a high-level inquiry into the conduct of Board officials.
