Bengal ties up with Adani Group for skill training, jobs: result: The wider industry impact

Kolkata: The state govt is signing agreements with major industrial players, including the Adani Group , to provide skill training to youths and facilitate their employment after completion of the courses, CM Suvendu Adhikari said on Sunday.

The govt is also working on handing over 51 state-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to private corporate groups to modernise infrastructure and align courses with industry requirements. “We have laid special emphasis on skill training of our youths so that they are prepared for emerging employment opportunities. We are entering into agreements with several key players like the Adani Group so that they offer skill training as per their requirement and then provide jobs,” said Adhikari.

A senior official said the govt was in the process of setting up several skill centres through the Adani Group in the state. “The industry will frame the curriculum of these ITIs and will churn out skilled manpower as per their requirement,” a Nabanna official said. Large industrial groups are coming forward, with interest from both state-level and national-level players coming forward for investment,” he said.

The initiative is part of the Centre’s PM Setu scheme, adopted by the state. On industrial development, Adhikari promised a steady flow of new projects and welcomed private investment in healthcare and education. “Work for industrial development has already started at several places after completing bhoomi pujan. This will continue. We will do something every month.
