Suhail Sajeev
Kochi : Ernakulam district court is likely to hear a bail petition moved by Suhail Sajeev, 19, the accused in the Nedumbassery Mini Cooper accident cases, on Monday. Police have reportedly obtained visuals showing Suhail driving the car at nearly 160 kmph shortly before the accident. The footage is supposedly from nearly a minute before the collision, and it shows the speedometer crossing 140 kmph and moving to nearly 160 kmph. The police have also secured CCTV footage from multiple cameras supposedly showing the vehicle covering 500m in 11 seconds shortly before the crash. Officials said that the vehicle must have been going above 160 kmph to cover the distance in that time.
The accused filed the bail plea after the Angamaly magistrate court dismissed the plea. The footage was allegedly recorded on a mobile phone by a friend travelling with him. The accident occurred near Athani on Nedumbassery airport road when the car rammed a scooter, killing three people. Suhail and four others are in judicial custody.
After the magistrate court dismissed the bail pleas, more evidence has come up against the accused which the prosecution is expected to present before the court.
