Hannah Jeter, born Hannah Bethany Davis on 5 May 1990, grew up on St Thomas, an island in the Caribbean that measures approximately 3 miles across.
Her upbringing was a world away from the baseball culture that would later become part of her life through her relationship with Derek Jeter, according to The Players’ Tribune.
The couple began dating in 2012, according to Nicki Swift.
She was the youngest of three children and shared a particularly close bond with her older brother, Conn Davis Jr, according to the profile on Nicki Swift. She was discovered by a local scout while playing on the circuit, according to Nicki Swift. Instead, sport played a different role in her childhood. She admired him and often wanted to do the same things he did. Her childhood style reflected that preference, as she gravitated towards cargo trousers and trainers rather than a traditionally feminine look. Tennis was more than a childhood pastime for Hannah. She competed on the Caribbean tennis circuit and was involved in the sport at a serious level. She knew his name but had not followed his career closely. She initially thought he was a pitcher rather than a shortstop. Their relationship developed during the baseball off-season, which gave them an opportunity to spend time together away from the constant attention surrounding Derek’s professional career. That changed when she attended a New York Yankees game at Yankee Stadium. Seeing the crowd’s reaction helped her understand the scale of his popularity and the emotional connection fans had developed with him over two decades.
Tennis became a central part of her life, giving her a goal to work towards before the modelling industry entered the picture.
During his final season with the Yankees in 2014, she travelled to some of his games and cancelled professional assignments to be present. Nicki Swift reported that the couple married in California in 2016. IMDb lists Hannah as an actress as well as a model, with credits including the 2015 film Vacation, the television series Rush and Hollywood Game Night.
She admitted that understanding the full significance of his career took time, but his final game at Yankee Stadium helped her appreciate the connection between the player and his supporters. Hannah later discussed their hopes of raising children who could enjoy a relatively normal life despite their father’s fame.
