Apple is expected to unveil its first touchscreen MacBook Pro at the Pro and tell event on October 28.
Apple’s Pro and tell event takes place in Los Angeles this Wednesday, October 28, at 10am Pacific time, or 10:30pm IST. It comes two weeks after the Welcome Home showcase in New York, where the company introduced the HomeView smart display, the HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K. The company hasn’t confirmed what it will show, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman expects a busy day of Mac and iPad news.
Marketing chief Greg Joswiak teased the announcements on October 19 with a short “Can’t wait to pro and tell next week” post. Headlining the list is Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro. It will be joined by an M6 version of the entry-level MacBook Pro, an M6 iMac and an iPad mini with an OLED display. This is Apple’s second event this month.
The regular 14-inch MacBook Pro will keep its current design but move from the M5 to the M6 chip, which arrived with the Mac mini in August.
Gurman says a redesigned version of this model is planned for next year. Reports suggest it could pick up a hole-punch camera, along with a price increase as component shortages ripple across Apple’s lineup.
Gurman has said on his podcast that the laptop could go on sale on November 6. It is expected to move to the A20 chip from the iPhone 18, and the new screen may push its price up. Apple is tweaking macOS Golden Gate so that it presents controls based on whether someone has been tapping the screen or using the trackpad.
Tapping a button can bring up a menu around the finger, and the Dock and Menu Bar have been reworked for touch. The iPad mini, meanwhile, could become the first iPad outside the Pro line to switch to OLED.
