A pandal in a park in Salt Lake
Kolkata: Most puja organisers in the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) areas of Salt Lake and Rajarhat Gopalpur have missed the Wednesday deadline to remove pandal structures from parks and grounds owned and maintained by the civic body. In many places, the puja organisers have also not removed the temporary banners and hoardings set up on roadsides. TOI on Wednesday reported that work to clear the parks was ongoing.

Failing to remove pandal structures from parks would result in a ground booking charge being imposed on the organisers on a daily basis, according to civic directives. Puja organisers said it was not practically possible to dismantle the structures and vacate the ground within the deadline. We are ready to pay the ground booking charge,” said an organiser of a puja in Salt Lake.
The clubs will also be penalised for failing to remove all temporary banners by Wednesday. Most organisers across Salt Lake have started removing the structures from community parks and vacant plots but barring a very few, most are still occupying the premises. “Lakshmi Puja was observed last Sunday and the process to remove the pandal had started. However, it is not practically possible to fully vacate the entire ground by Wednesday. Download the TOI App.
