New Delhi: A dispute over an extra serving of chole allegedly turned fatal after a roadside food vendor stabbed a 35-year-old man to death in outer Delhi’s Nihal Vihar, police said.
The incident took place Sunday night near Jwalapuri Nala, where Sandeep had ordered a plate of chole-bhature from a roadside stall run by Chintu Gupta, according to police. An argument allegedly broke out after Sandeep asked for additional chole and Gupta refused. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation. Police alleged that Gupta then pulled out a knife from his cart and stabbed Sandeep multiple times. The accused, Chintu Gupta, a resident of Nihal Vihar, was arrested and later remanded to judicial custody.
The FIR, initially registered under provisions relating to attempt to murder, was amended to include Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after the victim’s death.
A senior police officer said the victim’s family initially suspected that four to five people had attacked him, but the claim was not supported by eyewitness accounts. The victim, Sandeep , who worked as a driver, is survived by his wife and two children. Further investigation is underway.
Based on the MLC and statements of eyewitnesses, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
