Kanpur: A 26-year-old labourer allegedly died by suicide at his home in Kakadev late on Wednesday night after neighbours threatened to implicate him in another molestation case, his family alleged.
Neighbours subsequently informed the police through UP-112. Kakadev police station in-charge Dharmendra Kumar Ram said the police had not received a written complaint from the family. Tarun Kashyap alias Anshu, a resident of Loharan Bhattha, was found hanging by his wife Urmila Kashyap, when she returned from the market after purchasing items for Karwa Chauth puja. The couple had two sons. After finding her husband hanging, Urmila raised an alarm. Kakadev police and a forensic team inspected the spot and collected evidence. No suicide note was found at the scene. He added that action would be taken after an investigation if a complaint was submitted. Download the TOI App.
Tarun’s elder brother, Nitin, alleged that a local woman, her sister and others visited the house while Urmila was away, abused Tarun and threatened to implicate him in another molestation case.
Nitin claimed the woman had earlier lodged a molestation case against Tarun through her daughter, which had resulted in his imprisonment. He alleged that the neighbours had continued to harass Tarun since then, leaving him under mental stress.
