Kanpur: The four-day Kanpur Leather Mela-2026, which will offer residents an opportunity to purchase a wide range of leather and non-leather products manufactured by export units in Kanpur and Unnao, will begin at Motijheel Lawn-1 on Friday.
Rakesh Suri said exporters would display their products across 46 stalls and interact directly with local consumers, many of whom increasingly depend on online shopping. Rakesh Sachan, cabinet minister for textiles, sericulture, khadi and village industries, will inaugurate the fair at 7.30 pm on October 30.
CLE vice-chairman Mukhtarul Amin said manufacturers and exporters from Kanpur and neighbouring areas would display their latest products, giving consumers an opportunity to explore the region’s manufacturing capabilities, product quality and design diversity. The fair aims to help local manufacturers and exporters strengthen their presence in the domestic market, improve brand visibility and establish direct links with consumers, Amin said. Yadvendra Singh Sachan, regional chairman of the CLE’s Central Region, said efforts would be made to invite manufacturers from other leather industry hubs in future editions to broaden the range of products on display and provide a wider platform for reaching domestic consumers.
The event would also familiarise visitors with export units operating in the region and the range of products they manufacture, he added. Mukhtarul Amin will attend as the guest of honour.
