NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old man allegedly set his house on fire in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri on Friday, triggering a massive blaze in which an LPG cylinder exploded, leaving a firefighter with 25 per cent burn injuries, police said. The injured firefighter, identified as Ankit (32), suffered burns to his face, hair and both hands. Police received a PCR call about the incident at 11.26 am, while the Delhi Fire Services received information about the blaze at 11.23 am.

She was also present at the house when the fire broke out, police said. A video of the incident, which surfaced later, captured the terrifying moment when the firefighter approached the burning house to douse the flames, only for the gas cylinder to explode suddenly. The footage, recorded by an onlooker, shows the firefighter carrying what appears to be a fire hose and walking towards the main entrance without a helmet. Moments later, a massive explosion rips through the scene, sending flames and debris flying and filling the narrow lane with thick smoke. The incident occurred at a house in Jahangirpuri, where Bharat lived with his mother, Raj Rani. Three fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot.
