SALEM: The renewed Salem Science Park at Pallapatti was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu transport minister A Vijay Tamilan Parthiban on Thursday, paving the way for students and the public to explore science through hands-on learning and interactive exhibits.
Corporation commissioner Lalitaditya Neelam said the Science Park houses 174 interactive exhibits, covering a wide range of scientific concepts.
“The facility aims at helping schoolchildren understand science through practical demonstrations and experiential learning beyond the classroom,” the commissioner said. The park rejuvenation initiative was undertaken by the Lions Club of Salem Majestic Charitable Trust and the Lions Club of Salem Pride in association with the Salem City Municipal Corporation. The project and inauguration programme were coordinated by Senthil Raja Sennimalai, secretary of the Lions Club of Salem Majestic Charitable Trust and chairperson and CEO of NammaOffice, who played a key role in bringing together civic authorities, Lions Club members, sponsors and volunteers to revive the public facility and transform it into an accessible science learning destination.
