Hyderabad : Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday pressed the Centre to fast-track a series of key railway and high-speed rail projects in Telangana , while making it clear that the state would begin land acquisition for the proposed bullet train corridors only after the Centre finalises their alignments.
The chief minister also emphasised the need for a Regional Ring Rail corridor alongside the 360-km Regional Ring Road around Hyderabad, saying the project would improve connectivity and generate significant employment opportunities. He informed the railway minister that the Telangana govt had already agreed to hand over 409 acres of land required for the depot and requested that approvals be granted at the earliest.
The chief minister said early clearances for the pending railway and high-speed rail projects would significantly improve connectivity, industrial growth and logistics infrastructure across Telangana. During a meeting with railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Delhi, the chief minister sought early approvals for pending railway lines, the proposed Regional Ring Rail project along the Regional Ring Road, and a mega freight maintenance depot at Anantaram in Mahabubabad district. Accompanied by Congress MPs from Telangana, Revanth reviewed the status of the proposed Hyderabad-Pune, Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai high-speed rail corridors. He informed the Union minister that the state govt had examined the Centre’s proposals and submitted revised suggestions on the alignments. “The Telangana govt has not yet initiated any land acquisition process for these three corridors. The land acquisition will commence only after the central govt approves the alignment,” CM Revanth clarified to the railway minister and urged that the alignment process be completed at the earliest.
