Nashik: The Central Railway’s Bhusawal division has temporarily suspended the sale of platform tickets at Nashik Road station from Nov 1 to 15 to manage the expected rush during Diwali and Chhath festivals.

Since there is likely to be overcrowding on platforms, these measures have been taken,” a senior commercial department officer said. Relatives accompanying passengers boarding or alighting from trains add to the rush at stations, the officer said. “The objective of temporarily suspending platform ticket sales is to control overcrowding on platforms, ensure passenger safety and facilitate the smooth movement of passengers within the station premises during the festive season,” the officer said.

“In view of the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals, we anticipate heavy rush at railway stations and have to manage it. However, exemptions will be made for relatives accompanying senior citizens and passengers requiring medical assistance. They will be issued platform tickets as usual.
