Kolkata: Kolkata Traffic Police will deploy extra personnel in central Kolkata from Dhanteras (Nov 6) to Kali Puja (Nov 8). For the first time in recent memory, the additional cops will be deployed from morning—and not just during the evening Dhanteras or Diwali rush hours—on these days.

Several roads will be closed or vehicular movement would be regulated on some stretches from 4 pm on Dhanteras and Kali Puja, depending on the traffic situation. Roads around Kalighat Kali Temple would stay shut between 5 am and 11 am and again from 5 pm. Kalakar Street is likely to remain closed from 9 pm on Nov 5 till Nov 8.
