Lucknow: Senior bureaucrat and author Rajesh Singh on Saturday stressed the need for research-based documentation to present the authentic history of India, expressing concern over what he described as distortions by a section of historians.
Speaking at a literary event in the city, Singh said his book on Mathura was the outcome of extensive research and adhered to established scholarly standards. He said the work seeks to present the city’s historical and cultural legacy in its proper perspective and would help readers better understand Mathura’s civilisational significance. Elaborating on his travelogue, Singh also shared experiences from the legal and judicial sphere and concluded his address with a poem. The remarks came at the launch of two books at the UP Hindi Sansthan’s Nirala Auditorium: Mathura: Shakti, Dharmanishtha Ki Sahasrabdik Kadiyan, co-authored by Singh and Prof Purushottam Singh, and Chalte Chalte, a travelogue authored by Singh.
The programme was chaired by Chief Secretary Shashi Prakash Goyal, while Justice P.K. Srivastava attended as chief guest. Prof Purushottam Singh spoke on Mathura’s history and cultural traditions, while Justice Srivastava presented a review of both books.
