The agency added that much of the media focus had been on whether he would meet his father, King Charles, whom he had not seen for 20 months.
He said the government, police, schools and businesses would all need to work together. Harry acknowledged that his contribution alone would not be enough to make a difference. He laid flowers at the grave of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, on the third anniversary of her death, then attended an awards ceremony for ill children. Harry now lives in California with Meghan and their two children.
Harry arrived from his home in California on Monday.
Prince Harry has personally donated £1.1 million to the BBC Children in Need charity, one of the largest individual sums publicly given by a member of the British royal family. The Duke of Sussex announced the gift on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, during a visit to Nottingham, his first to Britain in five months. The charity has raised more than £1 billion since 1980 to support charities and projects across Britain.
Children in Need said the money would help young people in communities blighted by violence and knife crime, especially in Nottingham. Harry, 40, said knife crime continues to devastate lives and that he had been committed to this work for over a decade, adding that he could not “look away”.
