Speaking to reporters here, she said that the activists will also hold a massive protest at Freedom Fighters’ Park on Nov 5 besides planning to lay siege to the residence of the chief minister in Bengaluru if the govt failed to look after its demands. The Federation urged the centre to increase the price of sugarcane to Rs 5,500 and the MSP of sugar, besides fulfilling other demands of the sugarcane growers. State govt must provide at least a Rs 500 incentive per tonne of sugarcane supplied to the sugar mills this year, besides announcing the state advisory price for sugarcane along with FRP on the lines of govts of Punjab, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat providing it to their farmers.
“The hike in milk and curd prices must benefit the farmers when they are jolted by drought and a rise in the prices of cattle feed, and are struggling to stock fodder,” she said. The hiked milk and curd prices should help the farmers, but the milk unions are selling the milk sachets at inflated prices, she alleged. Mysuru: Farmer functionary Chukki Nanjundaswamy on Monday said various farmer organisations under the banner of All Farmers Federation Coordination Committee will picket the office of the deputy commissioner in Mysuru on Tuesday, protesting against both the Union and state govts for meting out injustice to sugarcane growers.
