The Election Commission of India (ECI) reviews preparations for 2027 UP assembly polls at a meeting in Meerut, attended by bureaucrats of 18 districts of Western UP
Meerut: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday reviewed preparations for the 2027 UP assembly elections at a meeting in Meerut, assessing poll preparedness in 18 districts across four divisions — Meerut, Saharanpur, Moradabad and Aligarh. Officials from the 18 districts made presentations on election preparedness, management and administrative arrangements, outlining the progress of measures undertaken so far.
“The Election Commission has taken steps to ensure transparency across all processes, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), SSR and continuous updation of electoral rolls,” Garg said. The meeting, chaired by senior deputy election commissioner Manish Garg, was attended by UP chief electoral officer Navdeep Rinwa and other senior officials from the CEO’s office. Divisional commissioners, police commissioners, inspectors general and deputy inspectors general of police, district election officers, and senior superintendents of police and superintendents of police from the districts concerned also participated. District magistrates had shared the details with representatives of all political parties, and the proposals had subsequently been forwarded to the CEO’s office and then to the Election Commission.
