Additional CP (traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta said, “Checking vehicles during peak hours, particularly when commuters are returning home, needs careful coordination. Delhi Traffic Police’s zone-wise data offered a closer look at how the checks were spread across the city’s borders While the overall enforcement involved several agencies. No vehicle was impounded. However, with all the resources and personnel at our disposal, we are carrying out the enforcement drive. The rule is in place. Our focus is on non-destination vehicles from other states and checking pollution-under-control certificates (PUCCs) of all vehicles. “We are also coordinating with neighbouring districts and have shared advisories with them to ensure smoother enforcement and minimise confusion and congestion at the borders. A WhatsApp group facilitates real-time sharing of CAQM directions and updates on action taken by various agencies. It also helps monitor action taken by the departments concerned. We also seek cooperation from commuters. Trucks not destined for Delhi are prohibited from entering the city and are required to use the Eastern or Western Peripheral Expressways. Non-BS-VI commercial goods vehicles registered outside Delhi are also barred. Separately, vehicles operating without a valid PUCC certificate are restricted, irrespective of emission category, and can be stopped at checkpoints, turned back or penalised. Download the TOI App.
