Lucknow: A private school manager has been arrested for allegedly murdering a 27-year-old teacher and dumping her body in thickets in Deoria district.
The accused, Vijay Nishad of Gorakhpur , 38, was arrested on Monday on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Subhash Chandra Vishwakarma. Police have also seized the WagonR car allegedly used to dispose of the body. Some villagers chased the vehicle for some distance but the driver managed to escape by speeding away. The villagers then informed the police. The vehicle reportedly also passed a police outpost at Ramlakshan, around 6km from the spot, with its boot open. Police personnel stationed noticed the open boot but did not stop the car. After recovering the body, police circulated the woman’s photograph on social media to establish her identity.
Police suspect the murder was a fallout of a love affair between the victim Rani and the accused who is married. Cops are interrogating Vijay to establish the sequence of events and the motive behind the crime. On Sunday evening, some villagers recognised Rani from the photograph shared in a WhatsApp group and informed her family.
