A red floral appliqué adds a striking accent to Bottega Veneta’s white crochet top, demonstrating how a single detail can elevate an otherwise understated look.Chanel’s cropped tweed jacket features red accents along the front, bringing a pop of colour to classic tailoring through carefully placed details.
The Spring/Summer 2027 (SS27) collections offer a fresh take on red, with luxury designers using the colour as an accent rather than an all-over statement.
Bennu Sehgall, a fashion designer, says, “A single red accessory has the ability to shift the entire character of an outfit without competing with it. “A hint of red, through a bag, a piece of jewellery or even a lip colour, can tie the look together beautifully without making it feel too coordinated” – Tanushri Biyani, a fashion expert Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection uses red in striking ways, from flashes of the colour beneath pleated tailoring to bold, all-over looks. From handbags and footwear to accessories, tailoring and smaller details, red adds a pop to otherwise understated looks. The idea is to use the colour more deliberately, allowing a single element to stand out without overpowering the outfit. Fashion designer Rashi Kapoor explains, “It almost acts like punctuation in an outfit, creating a focal point against black, ivory, denim or tonal neutrals. She adds that one considered element creates a focal point and makes the styling feel deliberate. For Tanushri Biyani, fashion expert and founder of a footwear brand, red is an easy addition to everyday dressing. “It just adds the right amount of drama without feeling overdone. Aditi Rao Hydari introduces red through a matching handbag and heels, adding a pop of colour to her sheer coat and denim look at Paris Fashion Week. A handbag, a pair of shoes or a belt can bring colour to a neutral outfit without overwhelming the look. Fashion designer Bennu Sehgall suggests starting with smaller details, saying, “A red belt is another easy way to introduce the colour, particularly with denim, trousers or a simple dress. In one Givenchy look, red appears as bold strips along the black trousers and as accents within the layered waist detail. These elements add definition and break up the monochromatic outfit without making red the dominant colour.
