An attractive natural leaf-printed (teak print) solar charkha shawl prepared by ‘Kutir’ was presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inauguration ceremony of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on Tuesday. The summit, organised by the Union ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE), is being attended by representatives from over 130 countries, more than 40 ministers, policymakers, industrialists, investors, researchers and energy sector experts. Presenting a product made in the Solar Charkha Cluster of Amravati on such an important international platform as Bharat Renewable Energy Summit 2026 is an important opportunity for the future growth of this initiative.

This initiative is proving important in the direction of providing employment at the hands of rural women, bringing traditional Khadi to the modern market, linking textile production with solar energy and giving global recognition to local products, said Pradeep Chechare, District Village Industries Officer, Amravati. The shawl was presented to Prime Minister at the hands of Union minister Pralhad Joshi. The Amravati Decentralized Solar Charkha Cluster, started under the aegis of Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries Board, is an important initiative being implemented with the objective of providing sustainable employment to rural and tribal women at the local level. The shawl presented to Prime Minister Modi is an example of this effort. The shawl beautifully combines yarn made on a solar charkha, hand-woven fabric and artistic designs created through natural teak leaf printing.
