Sitarist, music producer and mental health advocate Rishab Rikhiram Sharma has released his new devotional single, ‘Rama Rama’, as a musical offering ahead of Diwali. Inspired by Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya, the bhajan celebrates the festival’s central themes of hope, light and the triumph of good over evil. Blending traditional devotional music with his neo-classical sensibilities, Rishab gives the age-old bhajan a contemporary musical treatment.

The accompanying music video was shot at the 260-year-old Kusum Sarovar along the Govardhan Parikrama route in Braj, drawing a connection between the divine narratives of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna.

Speaking about the release, Rishab says, “‘Rama Rama’ is my musical offering for this auspicious season. Composed in Raga Mishra Khamaj and set to an eight-beat Bhajani cycle, the track features the sitar alongside traditional instruments such as tabla, dholak, flute, shehnai and duff. For me, the sitar is not just an instrument, it is a medium to connect with the divine and channel a sense of deep peace. Lord Ram’s homecoming represents the ultimate return of light, hope and righteousness into our lives. By filming this at the sacred Kusum Sarovar, I wanted to capture the philosophy of different leelas, different eras but one eternal divinity and create a soundtrack that makes every devotee feel the euphoria of that divine return. I hope this track brings the same joy, healing and festive magic to listeners that we felt while creating it.”

He recently took his Sitar for Mental Health initiative to London’s Royal Albert Hall, with a performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall next on the horizon. You use AI every day. Now get your AI Quotient. Take the AIQ test Get the latest Lifestyle News and more. Download the TOI app.
