Firefighters attempt to douse the blaze at the site where 13 people died after a fireworks manufacturing unit, prepared by the Thiruvambadi faction for the Thrissur Pooram fireworks display, exploded
Speaking at a seminar titled Fireworks: Celebrations and Dangers, organised by the Thrissur district scientific awareness committee of Kerala Sastra Sahithya Parishad, Venugopal suggested exploring modern aerial visual spectacles, similar to those presented in other countries, using advanced technologies such as mechanisation and robotics. Venugopal was associated with the Thrissur Pooram fireworks display for several years in his official capacity. His observations assume particular significance in the wake of the findings of Justice Ramachandran Nair Commission, which investigated the explosion at a fireworks manufacturing unit at Mundathikode in April this year, ahead of the latest edition of Thrissur Pooram.
