The investigation is under way and the girl has been referred for medical examination and counselling through Child Welfare Committee, according to superintendent of police Jitender Kumar Dayama. Based on the medical disclosure and the father’s complaint, Balehonnur police registered a case under BNS and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Chikkamagaluru: A 16-year-old boy has been taken into custody for alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl in Chikkamagaluru’s Balehonnur. The complaint was filed by the girl’s father on Nov 2, according to police. He stated that his daughter, a class 3 student, had been unwell and not attending school for two months.
Police said the boy, known to the victim’s family, was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to a childcare institution.
