Hassan: Hindu organisations are planning a protest demanding the arrest of Mohammed Naushad, accused of harassing and blackmailing a 20-year-old aeronautical engineering student who allegedly died by suicide last week. Hindu Hitarakshana Vedike member Raghu Sakaleshpura and others have demanded that police arrest Naushad. Distressed that the photographs could damage her family’s reputation, Hima consumed poison while no one was home. Sakleshpur Rural Police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Hima’s parents and are investigating. Naushad is yet to be arrested. Download the TOI App.
Her family took her to hospital after discovering the incident, but she died on Friday.
Hima had befriended Naushad, a resident of Belur taluk who was pursuing engineering at a private college in Mangaluru, according to sources. Their friendship developed into a relationship, and they reportedly spent time together at various places and took photographs. Differences arose between them a few months ago, leading to their separation. Naushad allegedly shared Hima’s private photographs on social media. She reportedly contacted him several times and asked him to remove them, but he allegedly failed to respond.
