Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s statewide celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Divas on Oct 31 has earned a place in World Book of Records in London, with more than 1.3 crore people participating in the events either physically or virtually, state govt said on Wednesday. The celebrations, held to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, were organised across more than 18,000 villages, all 17 municipal corporations and 152 municipalities, in addition to the main event at Kevadia. Digital platforms and live broadcasts were used to connect people across the state, taking the total participation to over 1.3 crore. Vaghani also highlighted the statewide participation in PM Kisan Utsav Diwas held at Bhildi in Banaskantha district on Oct 30, in the presence of PM. He said the live telecast of the event and programmes organised at the local level drew around 21.9 lakh farmers, livestock rearers and women across Gujarat.

Govt spokesperson, Jitu Vaghani , said the certificate recognising the achievement was presented to CM Bhupendra Patel during the state cabinet meeting. Announcing the recognition, Vaghani said govt had extended the celebrations beyond Kevadia to ensure widespread public participation across Gujarat.
