Johar’s star-studded final season targets North American viewers, with episodes streaming on Hulu in the US.
After 22 years, 161 episodes and more viral one-liners than anyone can count, Koffee with Karan is ending on its own terms. Season 9, which Karan Johar has confirmed is the last, premiered Oct. 14 with Salman Khan as its first guest, a fitting opener for a show that began in 2004 with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. That is clearest in Wednesday’s second episode, which premiered at 9:30 am EST/6:30 am PST on Oct. 21, with Telugu stars Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna , who married in February. It is Rashmika’s first appearance on the couch and Vijay’s second, after Season 7 with Ananya Panday. Promos tease an unconventional proposal story, with Vijay reportedly asking Rashmika to ask him 100 times. 6 it entered the Middle East and North Africa through a partnership with STARZPLAY.
The platform has recently launched in the UK, Canada and Singapore, and on Oct. A U.S. launch of JioHotstar itself has not been announced, but the groundwork is visible. The season already feels different. The couple’s latest film together, Ranabaali, is their first since the wedding. The show’s best-known fans may be abroad. North American audiences have long embraced Johar, from the films he directs and produces to his chat-show persona, and a final season with this guest list should draw both longtime viewers and fans arriving through the South’s box office wave. In the U.S., the season is available to stream on Hulu. The show also sits at the center of JioHotstar’s international expansion. For the final season, JioHotstar has teamed with NBCUniversal’s Peacock Hub, the first such pairing for an Indian-produced show.
Where earlier seasons leaned on Bollywood’s inner circle, this one reflects how Indian stardom now works, with names from every industry moving in the same conversations.
