Festive Shopping
Lucknow: Traffic Police has barred the entry of autos, tempos and private vehicles in four major markets—Aminabad, Bhootnath, Hazratganj and Patrakar Puram—from Nov 6 to 9 to ease congestion during the Diwali shopping rush.
Police said a detailed diversion plan has been issued and residents have been advised to avoid bringing private vehicles into restricted zones and to follow posted diversion signage. The curbs are aimed at keeping key market stretches free of traffic as footfall rises sharply in the days ahead of the festival. Shoppers have been urged to use designated parking facilities, including underground and multilevel parking lots, instead of parking on roadsides that could obstruct traffic flow.
