Prajaseva Andolana meeting held at Ambedkar Bhavan in Sirsi
Karwar: Of the 108,057 applications received across Karnataka through Praja Seva Andolana meetings, 99,142 have been resolved, recording 91% progress, co-operation and Uttara Kannada district minister Laxman Savadi said. Insurance payments totalling to Rs 62 crore are being processed for horticultural crops grown across about 22,675 hectares in the previous season. The chief minister has decided to provide Rs 1 crore for each gram panchayat, Rs 50 crore per constituency for road works, and grants of Rs 10 crore to Rs 20 crore for urban local bodies. He said Rs 3 crore had been released to address power-line issues along the route used for the Sirsi Marikamba fair’s chariot procession.
Savadi said the weekly Saturday programme was launched across the state at the chief minister’s direction.
Agriculture and horticulture department officials must ensure farmers receive the payments properly, he said. Sirsi-Siddapur MLA Bhimanna Naik said the meetings would help deliver govt services and essential rural infrastructure, including water, roads, electricity, schools and colleges. Naik added that the five guarantee schemes had helped people manage despite drought conditions, and said further funds would be sought for the region’s development.
Officials visit residents to hear their grievances and resolve them on the spot wherever possible. The programme reflects the principle that citizens are the true owners in a democracy and that officials and elected representatives serve them. Savadi urged the public to submit requests outlining their needs. The district minister performed the groundbreaking ceremony. Yellapur MLA Shivaram Hebbar, DC K Lakshmi Priya, ZP CEO Dileesh Sasi, SP Deepan MN and other officials were present.
He was speaking on Saturday at a meeting held at Ambedkar Bhavan in Sirsi, organised by the district administration, ZP, taluk administration, municipality and taluk panchayat.
