Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee president Padmaraj R Poojary said that having weak constitutional autonomous institutions for over a decade, has weaponised investigative agencies for political ends, and shaken the very foundations of our democracy, the BJP taking to the streets today chanting ‘Save Democracy’ is the biggest gimmick history has ever witnessed.

On BJP MP Tejaswi Surya’s allegation that a retired bank manager in Talapady, who had reportedly found several unknown individuals listed at his family’s residential address in the voter list, district minister Khader said the issue should be officially brought to the notice of the district administration. Khader said that the MP should submit a complaint to the DC instead of issuing political statements. “I will also seek an impartial inquiry to bring the truth to light,” Khader said.

Referring to BJP’s ‘Prajaprabhutva Ulisi – Arajakate Alisi’ (Save Democracy – Eradicate Anarchy) rally held in the city on Friday, Poojary said that as a result of Rahul Gandhi ‘s relentless fight against attempts to strip away the sacred right to vote granted by the Constitution and his exposure of ‘vote theft’, crores of ordinary citizen, youth, and marginalised communities across the nation have awakened and taken to the streets to protect their rights.
