Lucknow/Varanasi: Ahmedabad-based Arvind Ltd’s Rs 150-crore textile manufacturing unit in Varanasi is expected to generate 1,000 jobs, with over 300 women already recruited and undergoing training ahead of production, an official spokesperson said on Thursday.
Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Oct 25, the 6-acre facility is located at Khochwan in Mirzamurad and will manufacture sportswear and innerwear for leading global brands. The unit was facilitated by Invest UP, which coordinated with the company, district administration and various departments to secure key approvals and statutory clearances in around 21 days. The Varanasi district administration also helped resolve land-related issues, expedite Section 80 permission and coordinate with state and district authorities for groundwater clearance.
The project is expected to strengthen Varanasi’s presence in the textile and garment manufacturing sector.
