Chitaguppi Hospital in Hubballi has made arrangements to treat firecracker injuries if any during the Diwali period, with its expert team
As part of the plan, the emergency ward has earmarked 50 beds for patients with firecracker injuries. Hospital authorities said the preparedness measures were based on incidents reported during previous Deepavali celebrations in Hubballi-Dharwad and nearby areas, as well as cases referred from neighbouring districts. He said the preparations were based on trends observed in previous years, when several firecracker injury cases were reported from Hubballi-Dharwad and nearby districts.
Dr Eshawar Hasabi, medical superintendent, said the arrangements were aimed at ensuring prompt triage and treatment of patients during the festival period. Dr Sridhar Dandappanavar, health officer, HDMC, said Chitaguppi Hospital has also been placed on alert. Hospital authorities said both institutions are fully prepared to manage any emergency and ensure timely treatment during the festive season.
Doctors and specialist teams have been instructed to remain ready to respond to any emergency linked to firecracker mishaps. The hospital is equipped to handle burns, eye injuries and trauma cases, with specialist care available through dedicated teams from various departments. The deployment of a multi-speciality team will enable immediate intervention, including advanced eye care and surgical management whenever required. Taking lessons from those experiences, the hospital has kept medical personnel on standby and strengthened emergency response measures. Three beds have been reserved for firecracker injury cases and doctors will remain available round the clock.
