Kochi : Elamakkara Police on Sunday arrested a 40-year-old woman after she joined a group of minors including her son to assault a 17-year-old boy following a dispute over Instagram messages.
“When he was unable to sleep due to pain, I inquired about it.
The victim and the woman’s son were schoolmates until Class X and were doing plus two in different schools, according to the police. As per the complaint, the victim’s phone got damaged a few months ago and he was unable to access the said account. Later, when he regained access, he came to know that the said account was allegedly used to send obscene messages to women. The police said a report will be submitted to Juvenile Justice Board against the juveniles involved. The boy’s mother told reporters that her son had been assaulted earlier as well. She said they had filed a complaint and the boys were warned by the police back then. She said that the group brutally thrashed him and tore up his uniform. That is when I saw the injuries and came to know about the incident,” she said.
The allegation is that the victim and some of his friends had a common Instagram account which they purportedly used for online gaming.
The victim did not immediately alert his parents, but they noticed his injuries and admitted him to a hospital.
