Kanpur: A fraudster duped a salesman of a composite liquor shop of around Rs 33,000 by purchasing expensive liquor bottles using a fake payment app.
Salesman Files FIR After Alleged UPI Fraud at Liquor Shop
A salesman named Ramji Gupta from Civil Lines has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Krishna Kumar Pathak, a resident of Shastrinagar, following an alleged fraudulent transaction at a liquor shop. The incident occurred on August 22, when Pathak requested a bottle of liquor priced at Rs 16,300. Gupta reported that Pathak claimed to have made the payment using a UPI (Unified Payments Interface) app, even displaying a payment-success notification on his device.
However, upon checking his bank account, Gupta discovered that the payment had not been credited. He noted that Pathak had previously made another purchase of liquor worth approximately Rs 17,000 in a similar manner. The Gwaltoli police station, led by station in charge Ravi Singh, has confirmed that an FIR has been registered and the investigation is ongoing.
