“We earnestly request government authorities, including the (Maharashtra) government to co-ordinate and promptly verify documents when the investigating agency has reasons to believe that a person has infiltrated the border of India and continues to reside here having procured Aadhar card on the basis of fake bogus, or fabricated documents, or has forged or fabricated an Aadhar card by illegal means,’’ the high court said in an August 10 order in a separate petition where police sought identity information under the Aadhar Act to investigate allegations that a Bangladeshi national was residing unlawfully in the state.
Mumbai: The Bombay high court has called for a “concerted effort’’ from central and state agencies to “trace and deport’’ on priority basis all such foreign nationals who assume Indian identity on “bogus or fabricated documents’’ or who have “fabricated an Aadhar card by illegal means’’. The high court division bench of Justices A S Gadkari and Kamal Khata in a July 27 order where police sought Aadhar details from the Centre of a person they claimed was an Afghan national who “illegally overstayed’’ after his tourist visa expired in October 2018, said it came across “many cases where foreign nationals illegally infiltrated India’s borders” and later “procured Aadhar cards to claim Indian identity”.
