Music legend Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80.
Parton was 80. During the ceremony, Number 12 Company Irish Guards marched from Wellington Barracks with the Band of the Coldstream Guards to take over duty from the outgoing guard. Her nephew Bryan Seaver confirmed her passing in a video shared on her official Instagram account.
Buckingham Palace paid tribute to American singer Dolly Parton on Wednesday as the Band of the Coldstream Guards performed her iconic song “9 To 5” during the Changing of the Guard ceremony. We will always love you,” the post said. Her representatives later said she had died following a brief battle with cancer. “Today we remember and celebrate the unwavering advocate for the joy and importance of reading – the icon, Dolly Parton,” the charity said.
The Royal Family later shared footage of the performance on its official social media accounts, remembering Parton for her music as well as her charitable work. “Remembering the late, great Dolly, who brought joy, comfort and inspiration to so many including the millions of children given free books through her Imagination Library. Parton’s Imagination Library was also highlighted in tributes from the Royal Family. The programme has provided free books to children for decades, becoming one of the singer’s most prominent philanthropic projects.
Parton died on Tuesday.
