In Pilibhit district, police have filed charges against seven family members for the alleged harassment of a 26-year-old woman. The accusations include forcibly stripping her and attempting to rape her, with the incidents reportedly linked to demands for dowry. Authorities have confirmed that a case has been registered following the woman’s complaints.
Allegations of Assault and Extortion in Jaipur
A woman has accused her brother-in-law, Mohd Aslam, of attempting to rape her in May at her home. According to her claims, Aslam forcibly entered her room, stripped her, and threatened to kill her if she reported the incident. She reported the assault to her husband, Sajid, and her mother-in-law, Nasreen Begum, but alleges they reprimanded her and instructed her to keep silent.
Subsequently, Sajid allegedly took her to Jaipur, where he demanded Rs 5 lakh and a luxury car while intoxicated. When she stated that her family could not fulfill his demands, he is said to have assaulted her and attempted to strangle her with a dupatta.
Allegations of Dowry Abuse in Pilibhit
A woman has filed a complaint alleging that her husband, Mohd Sajid, and his family subjected her to cruelty and demanded additional dowry, despite her father spending over Rs 20 lakh on her wedding on April 8. The complaint was lodged on Tuesday night in Pilibhit city.
