His body, with injury marks on his head and confronts, was found lying behind

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

An elderly farmer was discovered dead on Tuesday evening in Kachnar village, located within the jurisdiction of the Rajatalab police station in Varanasi. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Heera Lal (65) had left home around 7 pm to relieve himself, according to reports. When he did not return for a long time, his family started searching for him and found his body lying in a pool of blood behind the house. They informed the police. As the situation escalated, ADCP of Varanasi’s Gomti Zone, Nripendra, arrived at the spot along with a heavy police force. He pacified the family and called in a dog squad for investigation. The team inspected the crime scene.

His body, with injury marks on his head and face, was found lying behind his under-construction house. His family alleged that he was murdered over a land dispute. Following assurances from senior officials, the family calmed down. The body was sent for post-mortem.

Rajatalab police allegedly treated the case as an accident following which the family members created a ruckus alleging police negligence. They claimed it to be a case of murder and demanded a proper investigation.
